ABOUT THE RUNNING FOR COURAGE 5K

The Running for Courage 5K, hosted by our Young Professionals Board, is Harbor House of Central Florida’s first ever 5K event. All proceeds of this event directly support Harbor House’s childcare program, which serves hundreds of child survivors of domestic violence annually.

WHY SUPPORT HARBOR HOUSE

For over 40 years, Harbor House has changed lives for many of the most vulnerable in Orange County–young children, teens, adults, seniors and others healing from domestic abuse.

In addition to the emergency shelter, Harbor House also provides the community:

♦ a 24-hour crisis hotline

♦ counseling

♦ legal advocacy

♦ pet kennel

♦ child care

WHY YOUR SPONSORSHIP IS IMPORTANT

Each year, thousands of women, men, and children, along with family pets, come to Harbor House for safe haven, because it is the only place they have to go. We are the only state-certified emergency shelter in Orange County that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All services are provided to survivors at no cost. Your sponsorship will guarantee we respond timely to individuals who are threatened by domestic violence every day of their lives. Just during the last fiscal year, Harbor House:

♦ Responded to 7,140 Hotline Calls

♦ Housed 459 adult and 439 child residents in our emergency shelter

♦ Completed 5,417 Safety Plans with survivors still in danger from domestic violence.

♦ Advocated for 4,539 survivors in our outreach program

ABOUT THE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS BOARD

The Young Professionals Board of Harbor House started in January 2018 and currently has 24 members.

The Young Professionals Committee is an organization of young adults committed to promoting the works of Harbor House and becoming leaders in the community through collective action. Through the Young Professionals, Harbor House addresses its sustaining interests—to ensure that succeeding generations understand, value, and take part in the elimination of domestic abuse, stalking and dating violence. In addition, the Young Professionals Board provides young Central Floridians with the opportunity to fulfill their personal call to service.
