P.S. Lions Club Title Sponsor of the SANTA PAWS 5K benefiting Guide Dogs of the Desert Saturday, December 21st 2019 9am start Santa Paws 5K is a dog-loving fun run/walk benefitting the Guide Dogs of the Desert. Each participant receives a 5-piece Santa suit that can be worn during the event and is then yours for keeps! This includes a jacket, pants, belt, hat and beard. All participants run, walk or stroll the 5K (3.1mile) route. Strollers and doggies are welcome! There will also be a 200 meter Elf Dash for children 10 and under. Entry for the kids' event is $10 and includes an elf hat, event button and Ben and Jerry's ice cream certificate for all participants. WHERE: Follow a fast and flat course (OK, there's one hill) beginning at Temple Isaiah 332 W. Alejo in Palm Springs and following a quiet and scenic route through local neighborhoods. Sign up for the Scrooge category and you can hide under the covers and still support a wonderful cause! Out of town that day? (even the North Pole) WHY: Get into the Christmas Spirit and help support the Guide Dogs of the Desert a 501c3 charity that provides guide dogs at no cost for the blind and sight impaired as well as assistance dogs for those with seizures, Autism or PTSD. Registration at packet pick-up and race day, if available, is $45. For your convenience, packet pick-up will be held on Thursday, December 19th from 11AM-5PM and Friday, December 20th from 11AM - 5PM at Running Wild 611 S. Palm Canyon, Palm Springs. Packet pick up and late registration also available race morning at race site beginning at 7:30AM $45.00. Race Day Registration begins at 7:30 A.M. Plenty of free parking is available! Awards -Finisher medals presented to all registered participants at finish line. -Division Medals presented to first 3 men and women in each age division in 5 year increments through 90+. -Trophies award to top 3 male and female finishers overall, challenged athletes, strollers, teams and dogs. -Santa Suit, tech t-shirt, goodie bag, souvenir finish line photo download, posed Santa download and milk and cookies presented to all registered participants!

WHERE

Follow a fast and flat course (well, mostly flat...there is one little hill..but then the downhill to the finish is awesome) beginning at Temple Isaiah 332 W. Alejo in Palm Springs and following a quiet and scenic route through local neighborhoods.

The Elf Dash, for children 10 and under is a short 200 meter run at the start/finish line and well in view of all parents and spectators.

Packet Pick-Up and Registration

Registration is limited to 1,000 participants! On-line registration is $40.00.  Elf Dash for children 10 and under is $15.

5K Registration at packet pick-up and race day, if available, is $45.

 

For your convenience, packet pick-up will be held on Thursday, December 16th from 11AM-5PM and Friday, December 17th from 11AM - 5PM at Running Wild 611 S. Palm Canyon, Palm Springs.

T-SHIRTS

All 5K participants will also receive a beautiful Santa Paws tech quality T-shirt at packet pick-up in addition to the Santa Suit.  Beautiful finsiher medals will be awarded to all 5K participants as you cross the finish line!

ELF DASH

Children 10 and under may enter the Elf Dash for $15. Elf Dash participants receive an Elf shirt and hat, Elf Dash award and special finisher treat.

SCROOGE

Want to help GUIDE DOGS but you're too lazy to get up early on race day and don't feel like leaving your comfortable bed? Well then, we have the perfect category for you! Be a Scrooge and you can just stay in bed and pout! We will send you a special Scrooge certificate thanking you for your support of GUIDE DOGS OF THE DESERT!

VIRTUAL RUNNERS

Not going to be in town on race day? No worries-you can run from anywhere in the world! For a $50 entry fee, we will mail you your Santa Suit, tech t-shirt and finisher medal. If you record your finish time on your Garmin or any GPS technology and send it to us, you will be eligible from an age group award as well. Register early and make this a Christmas gift to yourself! We will mail your suit and goodies to your home!

FOR YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY...

In order to insure the safety of all of our participants, we have been consulting with representatives from both the special events department of the City of Palm Springs and the coordinator of our timing company.  We will include the following provisions to insure your safety:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.   <!--[endif]-->Please, for the safety, health and well being of all participants, remember to stay home, if you are not healthy on race day.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.   <!--[endif]--> We will be starting all races in waves of 50 runners/walkers.  The waves will be at 5 minute intervals to provide plenty of spacing for participants.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.      <!--[endif]-->Participants will be assigned to their wave based on their registration number.  Their wave number/time will be printed on the back of the race bib.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.      <!--[endif]--> We will use separate start mats and finish mats so as to eliminate any confusion over start times and finish times; thereby being able to provide accurate finish times for all participants.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5.      <!--[endif]-->We will set up corrals for the wave that is starting and the next wave upcoming.  We will provide ample spacing and distancing for the health and safety of all participants.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->6.      <!--[endif]-->Volunteers will hold up the wave # signs so that participants know when it is their time to line up and where to stand.  We will also be announcing the current wave and upcoming wave throughout the race.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->8.   <!--[endif]-->People who earn age group awards/trophies will be alerted by Racewire of the official race results.  If participants prefer to not wait and pick up their age group awards, they can pick up their awards the following day at a designated, local site.
