VIRTUAL 10th ANNUAL RUN FOR IKE 5K & JR. IKE DASH

Welcome to the VIRTUAL 10TH ANNUAL RUN FOR IKE 5K and VIRTUAL Jr. IKE Dash.  Registration is open now through December 31st, 2020.  Run now or run later - you choose the date - you choose the course!  We are apart, but together and supporting the Palm Springs Police Department K-9 Team.

The 10th Annual RUN FOR IKE 5K is held in the memory of Palm Springs Police Department K-9 Officer Ike who was killed in the line of duty in 2011. This event is held annually with all proceeds supporting the Palm Springs Police Department K-9 Fund. Ike bravely gave his life in pursuit of a suspect who had already shot Ike's handler. Fortunately, Ike's handler was protected by his bulletproof vest and by the valiant service of his courageous K-9 partner, Ike.

5K participants will all receive a quality short-sleeve tech shirt, a magnificent finisher medal, race bib, and mini plush dog.  Jr. IKE Dash participants (ages 10 and under) will also receive their animal floppy cap.  These items will be mailed to you at no extra charge within the United States. Locals in the Coachella Valley will have their race items home delivered to their doorsteps. We will begin mailing out packages during the first week of October.

We salute not only the courageous efforts of our fallen K-9 IKE but honor the bravery and service of all of the members of the Palm Springs Police Department.  We honor the thin blue line and appreciate the risks our officers take daily to protect our community and serve the public.  

Please join us in honoring their heroism, courage, and valor, especially in these most challenging of times.

Run or walk a course of your choice!  Gather your friends, family, and neighbors and socially distance this event together or feel free to run or walk your 5K alone or with your pet.

We certainly hope to resume in person racing next season.  Our hopes are that California state, county, and city regulations will allow us to resume "actual in-person" events in 2021.  Most importantly, we want to ensure that our participants stay safe and healthy by following the CDC guidelines and so we are offering these virtual options at this time.

This is a fast and flat out and back course in beautiful Palm Springs. It is runner, walker, stroller and doggie friendly, beginning and ending at the Palm Springs Police Department.

Your entry fee gets you registered into the event, an event tech t-shirt, a special commemorative IKE dog tag , a pancake breakfast and souvenir photo downloads! You will also receive a plush Ike Jr. doggie of your very own! Following the race, we will have lots of activities lasting throughout the day!

Quality tech t-shirts will be given to all paid 5K event entrants.

Early packet pick-up will be held at RUNNING WILD 611 S. Palm Canyon on Friday, March 27 th from 11AM-5PM. You will receive your bib, t-shirt, goodie bag and Ike plush (for those eligible) at that time. Late registration at packet pick-up and on race day is $45.  

Late packet pick-up will be held race morning beginning at 6:30 at the race site: Palm Springs Police Department 200 S. Civic, Palm Springs.

ALL race finishers will receive a commemorative IKE dog tag. Division awards will be given 3-deep in 5 year age groups. Over-all men and women 1st, 2nd and 3rd trophies will be given. A special IKE TEAM TROPHY will be awarded to the police department team with the top 3 fastest finish times. 

Come for the run and stay for the fun--in addition to a delicious pancake breakfast presented by our local Palm Springs Lions Club, we will have a safety fair with many great events and displays...We will have K-9 DEMONSTRATIONS, SWAT TEAM AND VEHICLES, FREE CHILDREN FINGERPRINTING, A PET ADOPTION, MANY LOCAL SAFETY TEAMS and MORE!!! Also, meet ROCKY from P.S. Power Baseball and the CHP's Chipper! The Palm Springs Police Department will open its doors for an OPEN HOUSE and tours. Lots of fun for the entire family is in store at this always popular event! We will also have some extra surprises, too!

Racewire will chip time this event providing accurate timing and instant results!  Results should be posted on line before you get home!  Free photo downloads available withing 2-3 days.

Parking is available nearby at the county building, city hall and street parking. Handicapped parking will be available at the race site.

The Jr. Ike Dash is a short 200 meet run for children 10 and under. Entry includes a special event T-shirt, floppy dog hat, finisher medal and special treat!

The RUN FOR IKE 5K is owned and produced by Palm Springs Marathon Runners who invites you to "Come for the run - Stay for the fun".  Our races support local charitable causes!
