Event Information
A cycling event to raise money for at-risk children in Chad and Malawi (Africa), in Haiti, and here in South Florida via 4KIDs, Place of Hope, and CityHouse.
Family Fun Ride

The Family Fun Ride is a four-mile ride, along with other activities for families with children 12 and under (must be chaperoned by an adult).  Parents are encouraged to register and ride along with their children.

FAMILY DISCOUNT - Register 3 or more family members together and receive a $5 discount per registration by entering the following discount code at checkout: FAMILY2020

The ride with include:

  • Pre-ride bicycle safety training
  • Snacks and refreshments at the turn-around point
  • Magic show
  • Photos with Owlsley (FAU mascot) at the finish line
  • Face-painting, balloon animals and other activities with pizza after the ride.


Impact

In its first year, R4O raised $23,000, which was divided equally between the following:   


  • Pothawira Village, Salima Malawi - Reliable power for orphan village
  • Village Altonodji, Moundou, Chad - Solar power for orphan village
  • Fayeton Orphanage, Gonaives, Haiti - Solar power for orphanage campus 
  • 4KIDs of South Florida - Foster care programs for modern-day orphans (abused and neglected children)

The second ride in 2014 brought together more cyclists and volunteers and increased the raised funds by over 50% with Place of Hope at the Leighan and David Rinker Campus as the local charity. 


History

Ride 4 Orphans was started in 2013 to raise funds to support orphan projects at our SRC church plant locations in Chad, Malawi, Haiti and local foster care organizations (4KIDS of South Florida and Place of Hope at the Leighan and David Rinker Campus).

To date, over 1,1000 riders have participated.
